Her Silence

The sorrow glistened in her eyes.
To her he was iridescent.
She chose to believe his words,
This was the only way she knew.
He owned her innocence,
But she belonged to the earth, the sky, the stars, the universe.
She lived through the slits in the curtains of his eyes.
Her heart so pure, yet tainted by his shadow.
He belongs to the people, things, himself.
She dreamt of a life beyond shackles.
Scared of the unknown,
She felt safe in his prison.
It was all she had known.
It was all she had.
